I am a Learning Consultant with career long experience in Leadership and Organisation Development. My focus is often helping leaders and organisations pilot through change. Increasingly over the last 15 years, I have been involved in facilitating health and public sector transformational change. I am committed to helping line managers manage their own change agendas – through project management and effective team working.
My background is as an HR and Training Manager in the paper and aerospace industries. However, I have been working as an independent Learning & Development Consultant for over 20 years. In 2001, I completed an MSc. in People and Organisation Development at the Revans Institute, Salford University, which is when I first met Michael West and became aware of his pioneering work on team based working.
A lot of my recent work has been developing clinical leaders and other senior management in the NHS. I have found that managers with a medical background particularly value the evidence-based approach taken by AOD. I am also convinced that AOD’s focus on the importance of structure and process is a vital part of developing effective team based working. And, I just enjoy working collaboratively with AOD Colleagues who consistently make the learning process fun. I am passionate about the opportunities that come from the paradoxes of leadership – particularly the combination of playfulness and goal focus in innovative teams.
Outside of the OD world, I am a Reader with my local Church and a fair weather sailor. My wife is a Physiotherapist in a busy Acute Trust. Her experience helps to keep me close to the grass roots of what works in leading health teams.
